St Johns - A Virgin Island Eco-Vacation

We went to St Johns to have a real family vacation that would be memorable. And indeed it was, and for all the most favorable reasons.

Having landed in St Thomas we took the ferry to St Johns, which is mostly a national park. We stayed at Concordia, an eco-resort, which means not air-conditioned. The weather stayed warm but not unbearable.

Prior to the vacation I had injured my little finger - 6 stitches - which did not stop me from going into the bacteria loaded water; the resulting infection found us visiting the local hospital and meeting the island's doctor.

The kids hired a sail boat and went for a scuba outing. Other fun things to do were hiking, drinking, and exploring the island's beaches in our rental car. A rainy night, a sharp curve, and a steep dip led to a frequently visited ditch (according to the locals). The incident has been commemorated on a coffee cup. In my defense, driving on the island's roads has it's challenges; wrong side, wild donkeys, goats and chickens.
